al-Fiṭrah (الفطرة) is the natural disposition in which Allāh created His servants with. It’s sign is the heart’s innate & natural belief in Allāh & inclination towards all that is good & true, as well as being gravitated to cleansing & purifying one’s self physically.
On the authority of Umm al-Muʾminīn ʿĀʾisha رضي الله عنها who said The Prophet ﷺ said:
Ten things are from al-Fiṭrah:
- Trimming the moustache
- Moderating the (length of the) beard
- (Using) the Siwāk
- Inhaling water into the nose (then blowing it out)
- Trimming the nails
- Washing between the fingers
- Plucking under the arms
- Shaving the netherhair
- Intiqās with water (cleaning one’s private area with water)
The narrator of this Ḥadīth then said:
I forget the tenth except that it may be al-Maḍmaḍah (rinsing the mouth with water).

All praise is due to Allāh, may His peace & blessings be upon our final Prophet Muḥammad, his family, his companions, & all those who follow him in guidance.
